Manufacturer Bridgestone Americas has announced a minority investment in USA-based tire sensor and data management company Tyrata.

Tyrata’s IntelliTread system offers an automated solution capable of monitoring, tracking and predicting a tire’s tread wear. The system utilizes drive-over sensors which are weather- and dirt-resistant to ensure tread depth measurements are accurately recorded. Wear data is subsequently collected to provide actionable and cloud-based analytics to customers.

The new partnership will enable Bridgestone to provide fleet customers with an efficient and cost-effective tire management solution which is also sustainable. Through a series of recent investments including that in Tyrata, the tire maker aims to strengthen the company’s portfolio of integrated solutions, with a key focus placed on sustainable mobility.

“With Tyrata’s unique technology, more fleets will have the opportunity to optimize their tire programs, enhancing safety and reducing environmental footprint,” commented Brian Goldstine, president of Mobility Solutions, Bridgestone Americas.

“Our partnership with Tyrata will allow us to strengthen and expand our portfolio of tire management solutions to fleets of all sizes as we work toward a safer, more efficient and more sustainable mobility future.”

“The Bridgestone investment represents a very significant milestone in the validation of Tyrata’s technology and business model,” said Jesko von Windheim, CEO, Tyrata. “We are thrilled to be working with the Bridgestone team and to now have access to one of the largest fleet channels in the world.”
