A new three-year agreement will see Pirelli supply mountain bike (MTB) tires to the Trek Factory Racing XC, DH and Enduro teams.

The Pirelli tires supplied include the Scorpion XC range for use in cross country competitions, in addition to the new Scorpion Race Enduro and DH tires. The new partnership will support Pirelli in the development of new MTB tire products, with the team providing first-hand feedback and validation from tests conducted both in and outside of racing conditions.

Pirelli’s new Milan factory will also be used by the partnership to develop and produce a new range of Scorpion tires dedicated to racing. Technical feedback from Trek Factory Racing athletes – and other athletes supported by the tire maker – will be used to enhance the product range.

The Trek team includes 2021 XC World Champion Evie Richards, 2021 MTB Olympic Champion and 2022 Swiss National Champion (Short Track) Jolanda Neff (top), Anton Cooper, Vlad Dascalu, Riley Amos, Loris Vergier and Reese Wilson.

The agreement builds on a previous collaboration with Trek’s World Tour road cycling team, Trek-Segafredo, which was established in 2020.

“The growing collaboration with a leading company like Trek, with both road and now mountain bike athletes, confirms how happy we have been during our journey together over the past years,” said Matteo Barbieri, head of Pirelli Cycling. “This new phase demonstrates how committed Pirelli is to being leaders in the world of competitions, which also function as an open-air laboratory for our own product development. Being able to work with the best athletes allows us to continually advance the technological level of our cycling tires, produced at the Pirelli plant in Bollate, so that they surpass the quality and performance standard that professional cyclists need, while retaining the adaptability and versatility that amateur riders desire.”

“We couldn’t be more thrilled that the Trek Factory Racing mountain bike teams will be working with Pirelli,” commented Tim Vanderjeugd, global director of sports marketing, Trek. “We’ve seen first-hand how much passion, care and attention Pirelli devotes to racing performance through their partnership with Trek-Segafredo. Expanding that partnership to include the Trek Factory Racing squads was an easy decision. We look forward to helping Pirelli push their products forward while they help us perform at the highest level on the world’s biggest stages.”
