To accelerate its digital transformation, Hankook Tire has entered into a partnership with Rescale, a provider of high-performance computing (HPC) cloud simulation platforms. The computing resources are scalable, and the platform can improve R&D workflows based on multi-cloud.

Due to the complex structure and characteristics of a tire, data-driven simulation is viewed as an essential part of the R&D process. The use of HPC will enable the tire manufacturer to process complex calculations at high speeds, improving R&D in the area of engineering simulation.

Having utilized its own tire analysis and simulation software for the past 10 years, Hankook Tire will upgrade the capability of its simulation software by using Rescale’s platform. Rescale can accelerate digital tire twins in the HPC cloud platform to optimize the operational efficiency of Hankook’s R&D operations.

The tire maker states it will leverage its new partnership to boost digital transformation and grow a competitive advantage while accelerating innovation in tire technology for sustainable vehicles of the future, such as electric vehicles and self-driving cars.

“The partnership with Rescale will take Hankook Tire’s global transformation to the next level,” explained Bonhee Ku, executive vice president and CTO of Hankook Tire. “Hankook Tire will continue challenging ourselves to enhance our competence and lead the mobility market in the future.”

“We are happy to join Hankook Tire’s journey of technological innovation,” commented Jonghyun Hwang, president of Rescale APAC. “Our solutions will assist Hankook Tire to accelerate the development of new technologies and lead the future mobility era.”
