Bridgestone consolidates manufacturing in Asia

The Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone) is to consolidate some of its manufacturing for aircraft tire retreading in Asia.

The company’s decision to restructure its global manufacturing footprint – which includes tires, diversified products and material manufacturing sites – was made so that Bridgestone can rebuild its earning power, as outlined in its Mid-Term Business Plan (2021-2023).

As of June 2023, the Bridgestone Aircraft Tire (BAA) facility in Hong Kong will cease operations relating to the sale and manufacture of retreaded aircraft tires. The facility was established back in 1991.

To optimize the manufacturing of retreaded aircraft tires in Asia, where demand is growing, Bridgestone has consolidated production at BAA (Bridgestone Aircraft Tire Company Asia) into its Chonburi, Thailand, facility (BAMT), which currently manufactures retreaded aircraft tires.

The sales function of BAA will be transferred to BAMT, so the tire manufacturer can continue to produce products and services for its customers.
