Off-highway tire specialist BKT has announced that it has obtained ISO/IEC 17025:2017 certification at its flagship plant in Bhuj, India, following work carried out on tire testing and tire calibration.

Awarded by NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories), the recognition enables BKT to certify the quality of raw materials and semi-finished materials through in-house tests. The company states this certification will mean better manufacturing results through the use of more accurate and reliable testing programs, enabling the company to have greater control over the quality of its products and the testing of finished components.

Alongside contributing to safer and more reliable tires, having an internationally recognized certification means new tests now don’t need to be carried out when products are exported, resulting in a reduction of costs for the company as well as improved lead times.

As a certified laboratory, BKT’s facilities will also be used by government bodies to aid the reduction of pollution, a shared sustainability goal in the automotive sector.

NABL is a member of several international automotive bodies, including the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC), and adheres to their standards and criteria.
