Birla Carbon announces global expansion plans

Sustainable carbon black solutions provider Birla Carbon has revealed it will carry out a 200kMT capacity expansion across key global markets. The expansion is estimated to be complete in 2024.

Based on customer feedback and demand, Birla Carbon’s expansion will support rubber and specialty applications and will cover markets in Europe, India and China.

The expansion will consist of a further 80kMT in India, 40kMT in Hungary and 80kMT in China, all of which are aligned with customer growth plans. Furthermore, Birla will add capacity for surface treatment of high-value specialty materials in India.

The company states it will continue to evaluate additional expansions in other locations in line with its Share the Strength vision.
